our castle museum

The museum comprises the entire core castle. When you enter the castle through the imposing large entrance gate, you will find the outer castle with the former farm buildings on the left. Today, the castle restaurant with its beer garden and the falconry are located there. To the right is the core castle with the former living quarters, the well house and the keep. These form today's museum.

The former access to the core castlewas secured by three gates

The Phillip's Gate
The Phillip's Gate at the entrance to the former drawbridge, where the ticket office with the museum's souvenir store is located today.
The gate at the well house
The gate at the well house with its 97 meters deep well (to the water surface) and its treadwheel, and the former guardroom on the opposite side.
The upper gate
The upper gate with a long gateway served as additional security for the upper residential castle.
The keep
In the upper castle courtyard, the mighty keep with its peculiar "Welsche Haube" crowned by four oriels towers over the castle courtyard. Opposite this is the mighty Palas, which, along with the keep, is the oldest building in the castle.
The defensive walls
Towards the north, the high walls of the Kemenatenbau with their Renaissance oriels from the 16th century are impressive. Towards the south, the courtyard is closed off by the Zinsendorfbau and the adjacent high defensive wall above the upper gateway.
The castle courtyard
From the castle courtyard starts the tour of the castle interiors, where the visitor can get an idea of life in the Middle Ages.
Open museum
The Ronneburg offers its guests the opportunity to explore the rooms and living objects themselves as an open museum or, if they wish, to have life in a medieval castle vividly explained to them on a guided tour.
