Nach der kleinen Sommerpause mit Theater und Burgbelebungen, finden immer Ende September / Anfang Oktober die „Burgfestspiele“ statt, in der die vielseitigen Facetten und Epochen der Burg gefeiert werden. Ein großer mittelalterlicher Markt mit erlesenen Händlern, ein großes Heerlager, das große Bogenturnier, vorführende (Kunst-)Handwerker, Kinderprogramme, Gaukler und Musik umrahmen dieses besondere Event. Ein Fest für alle Sinne, zu Ehren der Burg und ihrer vielen Freunde und Helfer.

Smoke, fire, darkness are the elements that characterize working life in the kitchens of the Middle Ages. Whether on the simple hearth of the peasant, on the waist-high brick hearth of the burgher's wife, or on the up to eight open stoves with smoke hoods that the lordly kitchen master must constantly monitor - the preparation of medieval dishes is a constant dance around the fire. It can hardly be regulated, consumes vast quantities of wood; and coal, which provides more even heat, is expensive.

Das von Herrn Volker Kunkel in den 70er Jahren des vergangenen Jahrhunderts begründete Lehr- und Forschungsinstitut für Kampfkunst und Philosophie beschäftigt sich seit über 30 Jahren auch mit Europäischen Fechttechniken, speziell historischen Formen.Volker Kunkel hat rund 25 Jahre in diesem Rahmen – vor allem auf der Ronneburg – Fechtseminare veranstaltet, bei denen insgesamt bisher über 3000(!) Teilnehmer unterrichtet wurden, wer kann eine ähnlich erfolgreiche Bilanz im deutschsprachigen Raum ziehen?Im Mittelpunkt der Seminare steht dabei die Arbeit mit den Waffen des europäischen Mittelalters und der frühen Neuzeit, speziell dem kurzen und dem langen Schwert, die sowohl in ihrer waffentechnischen Entwicklung wie auch in der Kampftechnik einmalig sind und innerhalb von 500 Jahren Entwicklung alles übertrafen, was in anderen Kulturkreisen entwickelt wurde!

Seit dem letzten Jahr wird das West-Coast-Institut von Annette de la Cruz geleitet und die Philosophie und das Wissen um diese Kampfkunst von Volker Kunkels Meisterschülern an die nächste Generation weitergegeben.

Discover the hidden objects in an unworked stone and work them out. With simple tools such as rasps, files, drills and sandpaper, these stones can be shaped into wonderful works of art. Children learn here playfully the plastic design and spatial perception. Small figurines, pendants or simple hand charms - soapstone is a very versatile material for creative design.

In the Middle Ages, plants and herbs were used not only for cooking and seasoning in the kitchen. They were used as remedies and fabrics were dyed with them. But besides their healing power, many plants were also said to have mythical powers and they can be found in some fairy tales. Can you still find such plants around the Ronneburg? Bow making is a craft form that has already developed into an art form in our time. In the bow making seminars, the participants are taught the basic knowledge needed to build a bow.The participants of the bow making seminars come to the seminars for the most diverse reasons and with the most diverse expectations. Some have already built bows before and want to deepen their knowledge. Others have always wanted to build a bow, or perhaps have been given a voucher for the bow building seminar for their birthday.

Among the participants you can find women as well as men or couples of different ages, but I make sure that they are at least 16 years old, because bow making is really physical work that requires a certain amount of strength and endurance.

Not every participant has learned a trade or is familiar with the tools we use. But this should not deter anyone to try, because every participant goes home at the end of the seminar with a self-made arrow and bow.

Der Duft von frischem Brot, gebacken an einem Haselnuss-Stock – das erste selbstgebackene Brot bleibt eine Erinnerung, die uns ein Leben lang begleitet. Etwas Geschick ist natürlich gefragt, damit es nicht verbrennt oder im Inneren noch roh ist. Vor allem Geduld benötigt ein gleichmäßig durchgebackenes Stockbrot. Wer es schafft, wird mit einer sehr schmackhaften, warmen, frischen Leckerei belohnt.
